Gabriella Budapest Refuge Copper Ring

There are pieces made for strength, and pieces made for delicacy. This one is made for the latter. Four bands wrap around a core, with two small hearts sitting at each open end – one on top, the other below. This is a ring that means something without needing to say it.

I make each band individually, then hand-twist them together with round pliers, working slowly to ensure the spiral sits evenly around the entire circumference. I shape the hearts last, pressing and smoothing them until they stand firm. It’s a delicate job. I love delicate work.

Copper has long been exchanged among people who love each other. To wear close, to wear daily, to give quietly. This tradition needs no explanation – it simply continues.
