Gabriella Budapest Cable Copper Ankle Band

The spiral in the centre of this piece represents the same form that people have carved into stone and pressed into metal for as long as we can remember. I created this for those who feel something when they look at it – who place it on their ankle and admire it throughout the day.

The spiral is made from a continuous strip of copper, which I hand-twisted from the centre outwards, then attached to a specially shaped and gently curved strip to fit the ankle properly. Those who wear copper on their ankles say that their joints feel more stable – their knees, their legs, those parts that carry everything.

This is one of the last ankle bands I will make before I close my workshop. I hope the spiral finds the ankle it belongs to.
